Funny Holiday Replies, Recordings, and Message Ideas

Posted by Team NetFortris
It’s always fun to lighten the mood around the workplace with customers and employees alike, and the holidays are the perfect time to spread some extra cheer with a little bit of humor. One simple way to do this is to update your office phone recordings or out of office message with a fun, tasteful holiday greeting. It’s a great way to create a friendly workplace personality while remaining professional.

If you’re struggling to come up with your own, here’s a few ideas for inspiration.

Out of office responses

Have some fun with a holiday out of office email message that tells recipients exactly what seasonal activities are keeping you from replying immediately. “It’s my favorite time of year, which means I’m currently out of the office chugging mugs of cocoa, stuffing my face with cookies, and attempting to fulfill my lifelong goal of memorizing every single line of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.”

Going to be completely unavailable over the holidays? Let everyone know you’ll get back to them after your expedition to the North Pole or if you survive Christmas with the in-laws.

On hold recordings

No one likes being put on hold, but they might if you have a humorous recording to listen to!

Keep your funny recording work-appropriate, but absurd, like inviting customers to an implausible holiday company-sponsored event or sharing a PSA about being run over by reindeer or getting sick from too many gingerbread cookies. For a personal touch, record your team sharing their personal renditions of classic holiday songs.

Answering Machine messages

Keep callers on their toes with a funny answering machine recording. Give a silly reason why you can’t take their call, such as you’re expecting an important phone call from Santa Claus or are handling a ridiculous emergency like an elf strike.

If you’re the office wordsmith, record a parody of a Christmas poem or song with lyrics about returning calls when you can. For a simpler alternative, record your usual message and give your location as the North Pole branch of your company.

Whatever you choose for a funny office message, keep it work-appropriate and lighthearted (you don’t want to find yourself on the naughty list) for lots of appreciative laughs. With a little creativity and the right technology, you can infuse any work day with a little bit of good holiday humor and get customers and coworkers coming back for more!
